The business done on Moudnydn the House of Kepresentativcs did not possess much general interest. The Bank Note Security Bill was considered in Committee, but ultimately the discussion on it was adjourned for a month. Mr Fitzherbert then moved the second reading of the Gaming and Lotteries Act Amendment Bill—which is an altogether u lb-wont measure from the Bill passed iu the Upper llouso—aud goes iu the direction of legalising sweeps. After debate the Bill wag thrown out. Mr Beetham moved the second reading of the Adulteration Prevention Act Amendment Bill, which, he said, proyided for the proper definition of •• fancy broad.” The Bill was read a second time. Some

discussion followed on the Friendly Societies Amendment Bill. Mr O’Connor, in moving the committal of this Bill, said Friendly Societies had funds known ns sick and funeral funds, and in some parts of the Colony the societies were accumulating surpasses iu these funds ; and his Bill provided that everything in such funds over 5 pet cent should be at the disposal of the lodge. The further consideration of the Bill was adjourned. The House then for a time discussed in committee a Bill for putting down houses of ill fame, but ultimately a motion was carried Hint the Chairman do leave the chair, which shelved the matter tor the time. There was then a discussion on a Bill for giving power to the Crown to sell unclaimed lands, but the debate was ultimately adjourned and tho House rose.
