WOMEN’S DIVISION
TE AWAMUTU BRANCH. Mi*s W. A. Godfrey ( president) presided over the May meeting, which was particularly well attended by members, and proved to show that the interest and enthusiasm of the branch and its activities are to be maintained for another year. Members stood for a moment in silence as a mark of respect to a departed member.
Correspondence from headquarters and provincial executive and discussion upon varied matters occupied some time, including finalising arrangements for the big community sing to be conducted, by Mr and Mrs Albert Russel, of Auck'and, in the near future. Mrs Pattison and Mrs Raine gave instructive demonstrations; Mrs Pattison on knitting, and Mrs Raine on making rag mats. Both these ladies showed considerable ability in their separate departments and were watched with keen interest. An exhibition of wool work was highly commented upon and the prize for the best knited work was gained by Miss Eyre. Mrs Dann rendered two vocal solos and Miss Alderson an elocutionary item. These ladies, and also the de. monstrators, were accorded a vote cf appreciation. Paterangi and Ngaroto ladies very kindly acted as tea hostesses for the afternoon.
