TE KAWA WEST
(Own Correspondent.) Te Kawa West Social Club held its opening, card evening last Friday in the school, there being a large gathering of settlers present. The card tournament was keenly contested, and resulted in Miss L. Scholes winning the ladies' prize and the gentlemen's was awarded to Ml R Sy. The booby pr.zes were won ..by Mrs Scholes and Mr F. Thomas: . After cards, supper was served by the ladies. At the request of residents the com mittee has decided to hold the social.* each week instead of fortnightly, and it is hoped that there will be a- record attendance on Saturday evening when the bell is rung for the commencement of play. • '. . Miss N. Aplin, of Mornnsville, is the guest of Miss L. Scholes The Church of England will hold a service in Kawa West school next Friday evening, this being the nrst occasion, and a large congregation is expected.
