A CHANGE AT OTOROHANGA.

CK. BLUCK SUCCEEDS CR. POTTS

The annual meeting of the Otorohanga County Council was held yesterday (Wednesday), when the following councillors were in attendance:—Crs F. Potts (chairman), W. Kay, V. W. Simms, W. Bluck P. T. Crowley. W. Thorn-son, and W. 1. Bowyer, Messrs S. J. Fortescue (clerk), and G. Jackson (engineer), were in attendance. There were two nominations tor the position of chairman, Messrs F. Potts, nominated by Cr Kay and Crowley, and Cr Walter Bluck nominated by Crs Bowyer and V.W.. Simms. Upon a show of. hands Cr Bluck was elected chairman. , The new chairman thanked the members for the honour conferred upon, him, and Cr Potts expressed his congratulations. Cr W I. Bowyer was elected deputy chairman.' The honorarium of the chairman was fixed as before, viz., £75 The resignation of D. E. Egan as ranger to the County, was received and accepted. , , . The engineer advised that there were.no men yet available for the relief camp established in th Te relief camp established in the le Kaumauka district. The engineer's report was adopted, as read, and the outward correspondence approved. Mr Goorge Goldthorpe waited upon the Council regarding rates amounting to £Bl7s, for which the Council had sued his wife. On behalf of his wife he chimed that he was entitled to some means of reaching the property (some ten acres, adjoining the Oto/ohanga town area). At present there was no dedicated road to the property. As regards the rates owing these would be paid in due course. The Council decided that they could take no steps until the road was legalised. If this was done they would endeavour to assist. Since April Ist the rates have come in slightly better than last year, in the same period consequently there is no material charge in the Riding balance, one pleasing feature being that they all show over £llO, and up to £9OO in credit. The present position of the Ridings £270 0s 7d, Mangaorongo £3bb ds »a, Te Rau-a-Moa £lll Us sd, Waipa £213 4s 2d, and Wtharepapa £912 lis 4d credit. The expenditure out ot Riding accounts, with the various limits in Parenthesis were as fo - lows:—Honikiwi £25 lis 6d (£300), Mangaorongo £77 10s Id (£600) Te Rau-iMoa £33 9s 2d (£450), Waipa £2B 12s 6d (£450), and Wharepapa £95 8s 5d (£850). F A Odgers waited on the Council regarding a Magistrate Court fine, in connection with his driving of a truck for one Rhodes Wallace and which Odgers thought was fully licenced He asked for the amount of the fine to be remitted.—No action taken. The tenders of Messrs Thomson and Smale, for, the supply of shingle in the Wharapapa Riding, at 6s and 10s per yard, respectively, were accepted.-
