Before routine business was proceeded with at Wednesday's meeting of the Waipa County Council the chairman, Cr S. C. B. Macky, referred to the loss the Council and its ratepayers had sustained recently in the death of Cr Robert Speake. He said Mr Speake had been a very valuable member, and though he did not say much at Council meetings he was a very able and conscientious representative whose place would be hard to fill.
