BASKETBALL
ATHLETIC GIRLS’ CLUB. On Wednesday afternoon the Athletic Girls’ Club visited Ohaupo to play a friendly match prior to the commencement of the season’s comipetitions. The game opened with Ohaupo on the offensive, and three goals were scored before the Te Awamutu forwards handled the ball. The visiting team then rallied, and competition became more keen. A heavy rain-squall brought play to a close five minutes before half time, the score then standing at ; 7 —4 in favour of the home team.
Play after the interval was very even, and though the court was slippery after the rain passing on both sides showed much improvement. Even points were scored during this half, and the final score was 12 —9, the Ohaupo girls being the victors. The visitors were then entertained to a generous afternoon tea. The return match, which it is hoped will be arranged for next Wednesday, will be eagerly looked forward to 'by the Te Awamutu girls, who are loud in their praise of the hospitality extended to them at Ohaupo.
