THE AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Auckland Provincial Polo Association was held at Cambridge on Saturday evening, the president, Mr W. A. Fisher, presiding over a representative attendance the the Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Matangi, and Matamata clubs.

The annual report showed that the Association had experienced a good season. It is hoped to cut down expenditure this season with the better appointments of the new ground. The sub-committee (Messrs Chitty and Kay) had met the Cambridge committee and arranged for the use of the Cambridge Polo Club's playing area. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £45 5s sd. The president stated that the position of the Association could be regarded as satisfactory. SAVILE CUP TOURNAMENT. The secretary of the New Zealand Polo Association wrote that approval had been granted to the holding of the Savile Cup fixture in Waikato. The conditions were that a suitable ground be provided; that the Waikato clubs pay to the New Zealand Polo Association £3O for tournament rights; and that arrangements be made for the attendance of qualified umpires. It was decided to accept the offer with the proviso that in the event of less than two entries being received from outside the Auckland province the fee of £3O be not paid. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Election of officers resulted: President, Mr W. A. Fisher (re-elected); vice-presidents, presidents of all affiliated clubs; management committee, president, secretary, treasurer, and two delegates from each affiliated club; grounds committee, Messrs V. Chitty and W. A. Fisher; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Ranstead; auditor, Mr A. R. Batchelor. TOURNAMENT DATES. It was decided to seek permission from the Cambridge Trotting Club for use of the racecourse for the annual tournament, to be begun on the last Wednesday in March. The sports will be held the following Saturday. In the event of the Savile Cup tournament being played at Cambridge it was decided that the provincial cup be played for in combination with these matches. GENERAL. In connection with the incorporation of the Association, a set of rules was presented and, with several alterations, these were adopted. It was left to the management committee to arrange for miniature cups for the winners of the provincial cup. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr R. G. Blennerhassett, the retiring secretary, who has left the district. .
