ESCAPE OF PRISONER
PAROLE MAN DISAPPEARS. (By Telegraph. Press Association.)' CHRISTCHURCH, Friday., A prisoner, Timothy Edward Cosgrove, escaped from the Paparua prison this evening. The discovery was made about six o'clock when the roll was called. He has not yet been recaptured. Cosgrove had been working by himself in the stables attached to the: prison. He was a parole prisoner, and. not under close supervision. He is 47 years of age and 6ft 3in in height. Cosgrove was sentenced to three years' imprisonment in May for theft. On February 16 he stole a bag containing £4OO, the wages of employees of a sawmill in the Longwood district, Southland. He stole the bag from the mill locomotive while the man in charge was off his guard. Cosgrove was arrested at Round Hill, Southland, two days after therobbery. All the money was recovered except £47.
