A meeting of those interested ifi the formation of a Te Awamutu Gua Club was held in the Central. Tea Rooms on Thursday evening. Mr F. J. Quin was voted to the chair, and he explained that there seemed to be a genuine desire for such an organisation. As most of those present Te Awamutu had had a very popular Gun Club for several years, but after the war it had been decided to wind up that club. He would like to hear expressions of opinion.
On the motion of Messrs L. Marsh and D. Fitzgerald, it was unanimously decided to form a club, to be known as Te Awamutu Gun Club. Mr W. Woolven, of Hamilton, who was present by invitation, gave some particulars as to the formation and conduct of a club. He said a gun club was a very fine means of promoting and cementing friendships it was second to no other form of sport or recreation in this respect. The sport was fascinating, and he could say, after thity-four years of participation, that he was just as keen as ever. As to the cost of a club, a member would need to have a good gun, and the clays Avould cost about l£d each. Cartridges cost about 5s to 6s per box. He had met quite a number of sportsmen in the district, and was confident that there were twenty prepared to each contribute a guinea to the funds. For any of the club's shoots he would undertake to bring from Hamiltori~a goodly number of sportsmen to compete.
The election of officers was then proceeded with, and resulted as unde<f: President, Mr Francis Quin; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs M. H. Tims., W. H. McNair> R. G. Hodges, J. Minehan7 . J. Hutchinson, J.
