TWO PROTESTS DEALT WITH The usual weekly meeting of. the management committee was held last night when the following Were present:—Messrs F. Quin (cha ; ‘ man), G. S. Clarke, >S ! . Bro. Calixtus, who gave a demonstration to the rep. players some weeks ago, wrote congratulating the Union on the success of its team in the Finlay Cup match against Cambridge. The sub-committee appointed to' go into the matter of erecting a grandstand in Albert Park reported, that, they had received a quote for the erection of a stand 75 feet long, six tiers high, to seat about 300 persons, and asked the meeting to confirm, their action in accepting the tender. The stand is to be finished for next Saturday’s match. —Approved. It was decided to entertain the rep. teams to dinner at the Te Awamutu Hotel next Saturday evening. Regarding charges for admission to Albert Park next Saturday, the following were decided upon:—Admission to ground Is; cars Is; grandstand, gentlemen Is, ladies 6d. Rep. players are to assemble at the sample rooms at 2 p.m. sharp on Saturday. The referee of t'h!e 'Ohaupo-Te Ivawa junior match on Saturday reported having (in ignorance of the rule) awarded Te Kawa a goal from a try the ball not having touched the ground, before being kicked. . A protest was also received from the Ohaupo Club against the referee’s ruling . , , . In view of the facts placed before the meeting it was decided to disallow the goal and declare the game a draw. Ohaupo Club also protested against Te Kawa playing a Maori named Ngakaho who had played for Parawera seniors last year. The letter requested that the game he replayed as Ngakaho had not been regraded—K was decided to write Te Kawa Club asking for further information. . V The referee of the Puahue-Umted junior match reported) that he had occasion to award United a try for obstruction and described the play leading up to the incident. - A protest was received ffom Puahue Club against the referee’s decision in awarding the try.—lt was decided to accept the referee’s ruling and allow the try to stand. Mr Cavanagh (Puahue delegate) thereupon gave notice • <to • appeal against the ruling. It was decided to write the Pirongia Club asking for explanation as to why their junior team was late in taking the field last Saturday in their against Parawera. The secretary was instructed to convey to the Waipa Hockey Association the Union’s heartiest congratulations on the success of their rep team for the third successive year in the White Horse Cup competition. _ . . In order to. enable the juniors to witness the Finlay Cup match next Saturday it was decided to play all matches on Albert Park.
