SUPERPHOSPHATES
FARMERS WANT REDUCTION OF " PRICE. '' Farmers throughout the Waikato district have been making a united ■protest against the high price of superphosphates and fertilisers generally, and the matter has been continually referred' to 'the Minister of Agriculture in the hope that he would ■take action. The Minister of Agriculture, Hon. O. J. Hawkerij-bas : written acknowledging the representations made by the Waikato sub-provincial executive of the Ne'w-’ ■Zealand ‘Farmers’ Union, with regard to the price of superphos-. phates and the 'question o.f whether excessive profits, Are being made in some directions in connection with the handling and "sale of fertilisers. He states that he had lately been, giving the matter.'his personal attention, and hoped, to obtain more information with a view to„ determining what was .the best course to adopt inthe interests of those immediately concerned, vand:,indirectly of the community generally. He was still collecting information on the subject.
