LAUNCH KOA ASHORE
WRECKED IN. TWILIGHT BAY.
CREW LAND SAFELY.
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Friday. The 42 feet launch Koa, owned by Mr Vere Harrison, of Jervois Road, Ponsonby, which left Auckland on Saturday, May 8, bound for Norfolk Island has ended her adventurous voyage by coming ashore in Twilight Bay. on the west coast, a few miles south of Cane Maria van Diemen. A Parenga correspondent telegraphs that the crew of the Koa are safe.
The Koa’s crew consisted of V. Harrison (owner), R. Morrison-(engineer), of England .Street, Ponsonby, w* Adams, and D. Buffett, of Norfolk Island, who came to Auckland in the schooner Resolution.
When the launch left Auckland it was the intention of her owner to proceed to Norfolk Island to take part in the whaling industry which has been carried on there for a, number of years.
PARENGA, Friday., • So fay as. can be gathered here, the launch Koa sailed to meet the schooner Resolution at North Cape.. On Tuesday a gale sprang up, and o n Wednes- . day the lightkeeper advised that she had sought shelter in Twilight Bay. The launch appears to have dragged 1 her anchor and come aslhore. Te Paki station has. isent out help, and the crew are being brought to 'the station.
