TAURANGA ELECTIONS.
A DIVIDED COUNCIL. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) TAURANGA, Friday. Two vacancies on local bodies were filled yesterday at the County Council meeting. The appointments to be made were: —Tauranga Harbour Board, one member (the constituent districts being Waimapu. Te Puna and Katikati Ridings), and the Tauranga Hospital Boaix (one member for the County of Tauranga). For the first Or. Darragh and Mr D. Grant were nominated, the latter being elected by five votes to four. For the Hospital Board, Messrs T. Lockhead arid Colin McNaughton were nominated. Mr McNaughton was ap pointed by five votes to four. The contests appeared to be between the eastern and western divisions of the County, and the eastern side holds the controlling vote.
