JUVENILE BURGLARS' CLUB
LEADERS TO BE WHIPPED. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Two hoys, leaders of a Juvenile Burglars' Club, members of which had admitted several robberies and the accumulation of some remarkable collections, representing tools of the "profession," appeared at the Police Court for sentence. Accused were 14 and 12J years of age respectively, and sons of respectable parents. Their career of crime was attributed to the reading of much cheap trashy literature. Mr Wilson, S.M., said both boys must receive a good thrashing. He could not order it without recording a conviction, which he was reluctant to do. In order that the boys would get a thorough whipping by someone competent to do it, he adjourned the case for a fortnight, and suggested that such punishment be inflicted by the parents in the presence of the i probation officer.
