QUARTERLY BOARD MEETING.
TRANSFER OF MINISTERS,
The quarterly Board met on Wednesday, last, Rev. S. Henderson presiding, and there was a representative attendance.
The Sunday School and Young People's Guilds were reported in a healthy state of activity. It was decided to change the time of the Sunday evening service to 7.30 oil the evening of the 15th inst. Thirteen new names were added to the members' roll, and several were transferred to other districts. Mr B. McGechie submitted the balance sheet, which showed a total income from all sources of £163 9s, and a total expenditure of £162. Mr J. T. Johnson reported on the purchase of the hall at Pirongia, and his report showed that £162 had been raised out of a total expenditure of £172. Messrs J. T. Johnson and G. W. Mairs were appointed delegates to the Synod, which meets in Cambridge on 7th,. November.
By a unanimous vote the Rev. Hediey White, of Taumarunui, was invited to succeed the present minister, whose term expires in March next. The chairman reported that the president of the conference, Rev ; Dr Laws, would visit Te Awamutu on Monday, li3th October.
Miss M. Stephenson, infant mistress at the State school, who has been in Te Awamutu for the past 18 months, and who is granted a year's leave owing to ill-health, was farewelled by a tea in the school room on Thursday. Speeches were made by Rev S. Henderson, Messrs G.' W. Mairs,i J. H. Hamerton and E. Bridgeman and Miss McConkey, extolling the departing guest. Each speaker paid a tribute to her great service to Sunday school and church, and wishing her every blessing in her year of quiet rest. Miss Stephenson feelingly replied, and said the church had been to her a great help.
