HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

FORTHCOMING SHOW DISCUSSED.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu Horticultural and Industrial Society was held last evening, the president CMr T. Davis) in the chair. There were also present: Messrs S. A. Empson, M. Deed, E. Williams, and M. H. Williams (secretary). A good deal of correspondence was dealt with, amongst which an important item was a full and interesting report from Mr H. W. Hesse, who kindly undertook the task of judging the garden competitions. The report is of much interest, and its helpful advice to competitors, hoth present and prospective, merits its full publication, but the usual custom of holding the results till the show date will be followed.

Mr Hesse was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his extreme care and the conscientious and able manner in which he had carried out his duties.

The innovation of dog and poultry classes has aroused much attention, and with increased entries in vegetable and flower classes it is certain that a comprehensive and instructive show wil'l be made at the Town Hall. Entries close on 4th March.
