"I haven't so many pairs of boots myself," said Mr H. A. Young, S.M., at the court on Thursday in a maintenance case. The annual picnic of the children attending the Hairini school wi'll be hettd in Mr Hodgson's paddock, on the Cambridge Road, on Wednesday next. A dance will be held in the hall at Hairini the same evening.

Mr F. W. Flanagan, Valuer-General, will arrive in Te Awamutu at 10.30 a.m. on Monday, and will remain until Tuesday, to consider claims for assistance by financially - embarrassed farmers.

At the dance in Kihikihi on Wednesday evening a large attendance of patrons thoroughly enjoyed the pleasure provided. Mr G. Dalton's music was of the usual high standard, and this, with the sumptuous supper served, made the occasion a joyous one.

A dairy farm of 200 acres in Taranaki is burdened with the following mortgages: First, £3300; second, £8400; third, £7948; fourth, £3751; and fifth, £2763, all at 5| iper cent interest.
