ENTERTAINMENTS.
PREMIER PICTURES. “ At Handgrips with Death ” was the star picture featured at the local Town Hall on Tuesday night before a fairly large audience. The various scenes were of a sensational character, and abounded in stirring sensations. “ Tangiers ” is a beautiful scenic, showing life in the East in its most topical and picturesque aspect. There were some other
very fine films, which helped to make up a splendid programme. To-night a special programme will be shown at Hairini, the star picture being a fine outstanding military play entitled ‘‘Within the Enemy’s Lines.” A unique Keystone industrial “ How Moving Pictures are made,” should be well worth witnessing.
The programme for Tuesday next is advertised in this issue.
SOCIAL AT HAIRINI,
A very enjoyable social and dance took place at the Hairini hall on Tuesday evening last. There was a splendid attendance, a large number of people journeying from. Te Awamutu. A fine piano has recently been purchased by the committee, and it was with the object of collecting funds to complete the purchase that the social was held. All are to be congratulated for the manner in which the function was carried out. They anticipate that before long the debt on the piano will be liquidated. The floor, as usual, was in excellent order. Mr. Geo. Dalton’s orchestra supplied the music, and'those who were present expressed the opinion that it was of the best. An excellent supper was .provided, and dancing was indulged in till the early hours of the morning.
