The fortnightly euchre social held in the Town Hall on Wednesday was again well attended, although members of the gentler sex were rather scarce. Some very close finishes in the card play made things merry. Mrs Wade won first prize for ladies, with Miss R. Walker second; Mr C. Davis and Mr North respectively winning first and second prizes in the gentlemen’s section. The committee is very gratified at the way in which the attendances at the socials are keeping up. The proceeds are devoted to work at the new tennis courts, where the contractor (Mr Moody) has matters well in hand, the- recent spell of dry weather having been of great advantage to him.
