POLICE RAID

ON A GATING HOUSE. GISBORNE, Last night. The police made a raid on premises in Lowe street to-day, and subsequently Frederick Laurence Kenny appeared in Court before Mr W. Lissant Clayton, J.P., on a charge of keeping a common gaming house. Ernest Arthur Double and John Johansen, both laborers, were charged with having been found without lawful excqse on premises occupied by Kenny. On the application of Detective Belton, the defendants were remanded until May 24th, bail being granted to Kenny in £IOO and in £5 each for the other two defendants.
