Ministerial Resignations. The Press Bureau states that Mr Henderson has resigned from the Cabinet, and that Mr Neville Chamberlain has resigned the directorship of national service. Both resignations have been accepted.

Aerial Activity. The Admiralty reports: Our naval airmen dropped several tons of bombs on the Ghistelles aerodrome, the Zuidwege railway sidings and the Thourout railway junction on Thursday night. Aerial Battles. v Reuter's headquarters correspondent on the Western front says that during July our airmen crashed 122 enemy machines and drove down 120 out of control. Captured Guns. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We captured six guns in Friday’s attack. Poor Rheims. The Germans have again bombarded Rheims. Vacant Portfolio. Mr G. N. Barnes has been offered the succession to Mr Henderson in the War Cabinet. He has asked time to consider his acceptance with the unanimous approval of the Labor colleagues in the Cabinet, which is considered certain.
