FUNERAL OF THE LATE G. P. DONNELLY. (Own Correspondent). NAPIER, Yesterday. The funeral of the late G. P. Donnelly took place on Sunday at Omaliu, and was attended by settlers from all parts of the province. The Government was represented by the Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald, and amongst others present were Sir James Carroll, the Hon. A. T. Ngata, and Mr Jackson Palmer, Chief Judge of the Native Land Court. Prior to the burial service short addresses were delivered to the assembled people by the Hon. Mr MacDonald, Sir James Carroll, and Mr Ngata, expressive of their appreciation of the good work done by the deceased and of the widespread sympathy felt for his bereaved relatives.

The burial service was conducted by the Rev. A. P. Clarke and the Rev. F. A. Bennett. Six returned soldiers who have taken up sections on the Kaiwhaka estate, financed by the late Mr Donnelly, acted as pall-bearers, and at the conclusion of the service the “Last Post" was sounded as a compliment to the deceased, who once held the rank of cornet in a volunteer corps in the Waikato war. and telegrams of sympathy were received from all parts of the Dominion.
