A LUCKY ESCAPE. HOW SO-CALLED NEUTRALS ARE USED. (Received This Day 1 p.m.) LONDON, April 17. The British steamer Duendes escaped from a submarine through the captain’s skilful handling, after being under tire for 2J hours. The captain saw a Scandinavian barque hove to and suspected that a submarine was lurking behind her. Twenty minutes later a submarine appeared and tired on the Duendes. Shells struck her nine times, and her decks were strewn with shrapnel. No one was injured. TWO VICTIMS. (Received This Day 1 p.m.) LONDON, April 17. The Norwegian ship Glendon was sunk by gunfire. The British steamer Harovian was also sunk.
