Greece has decided not to oppose the transportation of Servians, but has formally protested, RELATIONS WITH ITALY. AN IMPROVEMENT. STRATEGIC NECESSITY OF SALONIKA. (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) ROME, April 17. In the Chamber Signor Sonnino stated that the Italo-Grcek dissensions were nearing a satisfactory solution. Greece was beginning to understand the strategic necessity which led to the occupation of Salonika. The relations of the two countries, he said, were improving daily. -THE ONLY COURSE. GERMANS TRY TO INTIMIDATE GREECE. LONDON, April 17. Writing to the “Daily Chronicle” from Athens Mr Donohoe reports that excitement runs high as to the conditions of the transport of Servians. Originally it was proposed that they should be shipped from Corfu and three days later disembark at Salonika, but the voyage is full of peril to troopships, and the Allies determined on a sea journey of twelve hours to Patras and thence by the Peloponnesian railway via Athens. The Greek Government offered strong opposition, whereupon the Allies informed M. Skouloudis that his official sanction was immaterial, and that the Allies would not permit the Greeks to interfere with the plan of operations. Learning of the scheme AustroGermany emphatically intervened and told Greece that it would he regarded Ss an unfriendly act if she remained passive and permitted the Servians to reach the firing line. The Allies then indicated that they also would have recourse to strong measures if the Greeks thwarted their designs.
