The Petone Murder.

(Per Press association.) Wellington, This day Tbe principal witness against Stephen Boeber this morning was William Jones, residing at Taita. Bosher went to his plaoe tbe morning after the murder, and when questioned by the witness about whether footprints were seen, he got so agitated that be trembled violently and Mrs Jones bad to make him a cap of toa. He was too upset to drink more than half tbe cap. Accused showed him a coat pocket which was torn, saying he tore it while getting into a cart that morning. Bosber’s left hand, from the wrist to tho knnokle, was streaked with blood, and there was a piece torn dean out of the right hand on tbe second finger. In cross examination, witness said he did not know what to think when Shore was arrested, and he limped half way to Petono on a stick to see Bisher and ask him if he hnd anything to do with it before bo communicated with the police. Tbe case has been ad jonrned till the 25th instant, owing to tbe pressure of other business.
