NEAR DOMAN TENNIS COURTS

CR. HAMPSHIRE APPREHENSIVE

The bad state •of the surface of Thornton Road near the tennis courts was stressed by Cr. T. H. Hampshire at the council meeting on Wednes'day night. He said that the holes in the bitumen were dangerous, and suggested that if something could not be done immediately, a sign should be erected advising people to make a detour along Bowen Street. The Deputy-Mayor, Mr Mervyn Wells: That is a criticism of the works committee.

Mr Hampshire: I use the road every day and I know it is going from bad to worse.

The engineer, Mr Neville Sanderson, stated that the road was bad, but. unfortunately patching would not hold. He had arranged with the bitumen compainy to reseal the sum face next week. ' i
