EFFECST NOT SERIOUS

THE PETROL RESTRICTIONS CAMBRIDGE SHOW INQUIRY The importance of benzine to the success of an agricultural show has been realised by the Waikato Central Agricultural Association, and in view of the annual show next month the secretary, Mr Edgar James, communicated with the Oil Fuel Controller, Mr J. L. Laurensen, asking him to consider extending the supply for exhibitors and judges. By telegram, the Controller replied that public carriers who, he understood, did most of the carting for exhibitors, were allowed full petrol requirements to carry on dn efficient service. The licensed quantity of petrol for private trucks had been reduced by one-third. Mr Laurensen added that he also understood that most people had their tanks full when the rationing was introduced, so that petrol was available for February, considerably in excess of the licensed quantities. In view of that, it was suggested that the petrol restrictions were not having the serious effect that was anticipated. Special cases could be referred to the local controller, who would give sympathetic consideration to judges and officials, and consider exhibits on. their merits, he concluded.
