WOOL SALE

FINAL AUCKLAND AUCTION

TOMORROW’S OFFERING OF 22,000 BALES

More than 22,000 bales of wool will be offered at the final Auckland sale on Friday, when one of the most successful selling seasons ever experienced by growers in the Auckland Province will close. The total distribution for the two Auckland auctions already held this season was £1,053,121. The highest return for the whole season in recent years was £1,024,682, in 1928-29 and, with this total already exceeded, the final pay-out will reach an Impressive figure; • The total of 22,293 bales is ip sharp contrast to that at the corresponding sale last year, when 32,546 bales were available, constituting the largest offering in Auckland for some considerable time. The reason for this decline is that there was only the very small carry-over of about 800 bales, against 15tHH> hales at the beginning of last season. During the last week, brokers have been busy reclassing and binning, and a great deal of overtime has been necessary to prepare for the buyers, the majority of whom arrived by train o nTuesday from Wanganui. The wool has opened up in average condition and quality for the third auction. The majority is of top-making class, and there is not a great quantity of inferior grade. _. ....' Opinion is practically unanimous .among brokers that there will be little difficulty in quitting the entire “offering. As was the case at . the W'anganqi sale on it is ex-* -jyipted s&ai y ;'ißfadf|>i§l will set the buying pace,"with 'strong support from America and the Continent; France also should operate; fairly extensively, with Japan buying with discrimination. Bradford has cqme into the market strongly at-the last few sales, -while New Zealand and Australian mills are expected tp buy a good deal, of good style lambs’ wool. It is estimated that results should be very much on a par., with, those ruling, at the Wanganui auc-; tiqn.
