WAIKATO HUNT

THE ANNUAL MEETING

SATISFACTORY FINANCES

Owing to the bad weather conditions, there was only a small attendance at the annual meeting of the WaikatojHunt last Friday evening. The Master, Mr Wynn Brown, presided. '?."'•*.

The annual report, as previously published, was read and adopted.

The balance sheet showed that income on the Jubilee race meeting had amounted to £5525 7/9 and expenditure £4019 2/4, there being a profit of £ISOO 5/5 on the meeting. The hunting account showed that the season commenced with a credit of £134 3/3 and concluded with a credit of £334 11/7. There are no liabilities, while assets amount to £6174 8/8.

Speaking to the balance sheet, Mr Brown said it was pleasing to see the finances in such a satisfactory state and felt sure the club was now soundly on its feet.

Mr J. S. Fisher congratulated the club on its financial position, and thought the time was suitable to increase the honoraria. Referring to the amount of £2B for the Master's expenses to outside meets, Mr Fisher ■lid the figure was not excessive, but it would probably be cheaper to secure a conveyance for the hounds. Mr S. Banks felt that as the Hunt is now in a satisfactory financial position, the question of securing a Hunt property should be considered.

Mr Harold Windsor considered that the Hunt should now increase its stake money at the annual Labour Day meeting.

The securing of a good stock of rails to last three or four seasons was suggested by Mr John Allen, of Morrinsville. He said the country could be considerably improved in his district as with all hunting areas and the purchase would be a good investment at the.present time. A recommendation was carried that the Hunt purchase 500 rails and 1000 posts. Mr Brown said he could not agree with the suggestion to purchase a property that would not be used. The Hunt at present is receiving free housing for the hounds and good interest is being secured on'" the money in hand. The Hunt will hold its opening ■meet on Tuesday, May 5, at the Kennels.

A suggestion that will be considered by the committee is to present the Hunt Cup in front of the members' and not the stewards' stand.

The meeting agreed that it would be advantageous to continue the raising of the lawn for a similar distance to that carried out last year. The election of officers resulted as follows: Treasurer, Mr H. Windsor; solicitor, Mr I). J.' Lundon; auditor, Mr P. G. Harvey.

Messrs S. McMillan, Jas. Taylor, R. H. Townsend and F. Vosper were re-elected members of the general committee, the personnel of which is: Messrs Wynn Brown (chairman - ), J. M. Allen, S. Banks, H. Cr.owtb.er, A. Fisher, R. Hannon, S. McMillan, R. Ranstead, A. Swayne, J. Taylor, R. H. Townsend, F. Vosper and H. Windsor.
