HOLLYWOOD FASHIONS CLAUDETTE COLBERT’S UNIQUE SPORTS HAT. Claudette Colbert’s newest sports hat has been the cause of quite a lot of conversation in Hollywood fashion circles. Claudette wears this striking little hat in her latest Paramount picture, “The Gilded Lily.” Of brown antelope with a two-inch brim, this chapeau is surprisingly slashed right up to the crown and then laced together with matching brown cords. This is especially effective with her reddish brown locks showing through the lacing. FROM THE PARAMOUNT STUDIOS. Hollywood is wearing clips here and clips there. Carole Lombard, Paramount star, has a different place for them with every new costume. With a tailored blouse she wears them instead of cuff links, and very chic, too. Incidentally, several of Carole’s costumes for “Rumba,” her new Paramount picture, are tailored sports frocks. This indicates that the shirtmaker influence will persist through another spring. MARLENE’S PERFUME MATCHES HER POSIES. There has been a lot of talk about the carnations which prevail in every scene of Marlene Dietrich’s Paramount picture, “Carnival in Spain.” ;But only recently did someone notice that Miss Dietrich has matched her perfume to the carnations in every instance. During fittings for her costumes, Miss Dietrich decided that this carnation fad would he amusing and contagious. So she ordered an enormous bottle of well-known-French perfume which exactly matches' the spicy fragrance of the flowers. NECKLINE DIFFERS. , About the only difference between an evening gown and a dinner "gown is the neckline, according. to Hollywood. Frances Drake, who has been mentioned for the leading role in Max Baer’s Paramount picture, “Kids on the Cuff,” has a new number of moire taffeta with a fuschia skirt and a cerise top which just covers the shoulders. Sylvia Sidney follows suit in o’ne of golden lame skirted in brown metal flecked bagheera.
