FIRE DEMONSTRATION
SATURDAY'S FIXTUEB.. ■ ) .;■ EIGHT TEAMS COMPETIN^^'"'' On Saturday the first Fire Brigade tournament to be held in Cambridge for some considerable time will be held at Victoria Square, when eight teams representative of South Auckland brigades will compete for the How r den. Shield and the Hill-Maloney Shield. The Howden .Shield is at present held by the Cambridge brigade, while the holders of the Hill-Maloney Shield are the Otorohanga brigade representatives.
The tourney will commence at midday and the various contests should provide a fine afternoon's sport. There promises to be very keen, contests and good times put up by the competing teams.
The following brigades will be represented:—Otorohanga, Te Awamutu, To Kuiti, Te Aroha, Waihi, Morrinsville, MaTamata and Cambridge.
The'competitions for the trophies will include the following events: — Two men, hose and standpipe; three men, hose and standpipe; three man disabled; four man disabled. The Howden Shield will be on yiggr—''' at the Cherry Tea-rooms in Duke St. ' ' The fact that the competition for both shields is being held at Gambridge this time is a compliment to the local brigade, and in view of their fine services year in and year out to the borough, it is to be hoped there will be a good attendance at Victoria Square on Saturday afternoon.
