ROTO-O-RANGI

FAREWELL TO MB GUTRY. . SCHOOL CHILDEEN'S EEGEETS. (Own Correspondent). On Wednesday morning the children of the Eoto-o-rangi school gathered together to bid farewell to their headmaster (Mr Geo. Gutry), who is being transferred, on promotion, to Onewhero. On behalf of the boys and girls, one of the senior girls (Elsie Johnson) addressed the following to Mr Gutry:— "The children of this school are very sorry to hear that you are leaving the district to go to Onewhero, and they have asked me to say a few words of farewell to you. During the time you have been here, the relations between you and we boys and girls have been most pleasant. We have learned to love you and wish to show our appreciation for what you have done for us. We wish to give you a little memento of your association with us, and so the children have asked me to present you with this suitcase. I have much pleasure, therefore, on their behalf, in asking you to accept it, together with our best wishes for the future prosperity and happiness of both yourself and Mrs Gutry." Mr Gutry also received an Eversharp pencil from some of the pupils. Mrs Gutry was presented with a box of handkerchiefs. The headmaster, returning thanks, said that he regretted leaving his large family in Eoto-o-rangi, to whom he had become greatly attached. Three hearty cheers were then given for Mr and Mrs Gutry, and all sang heartily "For They are, Jolly Good Fellows.''
