THE WEATHER

A NICE RAIN. LATE SUMMER CONDITIONS. For many weeks past the weather has been exceedingly pleasant, bright, sunny days with cool nights being the rule. This district was fortunate in having two days' heavy rain at the beginning of the month —rain that was not experienced in many parts of the province. At Cambridge we* had .52ih. of rain on the Ist, of the month, and another heavier fall, .89in., on the Bth. Yesterday was the third day of the month, on which we have had rain, .43in falling for the 24 hours up to 9 a.ih.7 to-day. After yesterday's pleasant rain, which will do a lot of good to the pasture's and crops, it became much colder, and the temperature -was not much above conditions for a frost.

Auckland city had only had .Olin. of rain for the whole month up till yesterday, and the rain that fell then was much lighter than here, totalling only •21in.
