LIFE SAVING DISPLAY. SMALL'CHILDEEN'S EACES. There was quite a large attendance at the Municipal Bath on Thursday afternoon when a number of girls from the District High School-had their, examination in life-saving, the examiner being Mr L. C. Jenkin, master at the secondary. department. Having received their tuition a\ the hands of the bath caretaker, Mr F. H. Green, the girls gave a fine display and showed that they .were fully qualified to save lives. The girls; as a whole, were very efficient in the water, and they went through the five methods of rescue with .very few faults. They wore also examined in land drill. The display of the girls reflected credit on their'tutor. The girls examined were M. O'Keofo, G. Moore, N. Easter, B. Grumitt, Doris Boycc, Doilothy Haworth, Marion Suteliffe, Mavis Boycc, Grace Jones and Betty Gardiner. Small Children's Races. Prior to the display of life-saving two races were held for girls and boys under 13 years of age for trophies kindly presented by Mrs A. Montgomery, and resulted as follows: — Girls, "one length: G. Parker 1, B. Gardiner 2, G. Jones 3. Boys, two lengths: J. Jones 1, E. Easter 2, A. Sutherland 3. After the races the trophies were presented by Mrs Montgomery, who congratulated the small children on their swimming.
