S. ANDREW’S PICNIC

ENJOYABLE OUTING AT TE MIBO. A most successful and enjoyable picnic in connection with S. Andrew’s Parish Church was held last Saturday, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs B. P. de Lautour, in the bush at Te Miro. Although intended mainly for scholars of the Sunday School and members of the Bible Classes, an invitation was extended to all parishioners, and many availed themselves of it. The , picnic party left S. Andrew’s Church on Sat- { urday morning at 10.30 in a large number of private cars, kindly lent and driven by parishioners, and in Mr Hampton’s school bus. -After a pleasant ride in delightful weather the party arrived at the bush, and morning tea was served. For the children this consisted of a bun, an apple and -an orange drink. From then onwards until lunch time swimming and paddling in tH% creek, games of all sorts, and the climbing of the high peak behind the bush occupied the time. Arrangements had been made for the transport of parents and others who could not come earlier in. the day, and throughout the afternoon the paddock near the bush was well filled. A full sports programme was run off, including flat races for children of all the various ages, etc., and much amusement was evoked by the final races for ladies and gentlemen visitors. The parishioners of S. Andrew’s are to be congratulated-upon the good organisation of the picnic, which went without a single hitch from start to finish. The cost of the picnic was borne by voluntary donations collected by Mrs Haworth and Mrs Aldcrton, and the Church authorities wish to thank these ladies, and also those who lent cars, Mr and. Mrs F. B. de Lautour for J their kind hospitality, and very many ■ 1 who assisted in other ways.
