RAILWAY EMPLOYEES’ PICNIC,

A LARGE ASSEMBLAGE. The Frankton and Hamilton railway employees and their families and friends held their annual picnic at the local showgrounds on Sunday last. The special train with just over 1000 aboard arrived at the showgrounds shortly after 10 a.m. Within a short time the grounds presented an animated scene, and in the afternoon, swelled by a large attendance of local residents, there must have been over 2000 on the grounds. The picnic committee is a very strong one and the programme of entertainment on Sunday was a most varied one, a programme of events for young and old being a feature. Not the least important item on the programme w r as the baby show. The committee is a very generous-minded one, and both visitors and local residents joined in the sports and the picnic generally, with the result that all had a very happy time. During the afternoon the Cambridge Municipal Band assisted with a good programme of music. Many of the visitors took the opportunity to visit the town, while quite a number found their way to the Domain and other parts of the 1 borough. The. picnic committee were again this year loud in their praises of the showgrounds as a picnic venue, and particularly appreciated the use of the facilities on the grounds.
