OBITUARY.
The death occurred at his home, Remuera, on Tuesday night, of Mr George Edgecumbe, at the age of 85 years. Mr Edgecumbe came to*New Zealand in 1864 and settled at Ngaruawahia for some twelve years, after which ho joined the staff of the Waikato Times. Later he established the Waikato Argus, of which he remained proprietor until it was incorporated With the Waikato Times, in 1914. He held tlie position of chairman of directors of the new company until his retirement some few years later. Mr Edgecumbe was a prominent figure in public affairs in Waikato, having served as Mayor of Hamilton .and taking a keen interest in A. and P. matters, racing, football, etc. He leaves three sons and four daughters. . • .
