ASSESSMENT COURT

BOROUGH VALUATIONS.

EVERY OBJECTION SETTLED.

The sitting of tho Assessment Court, to hear objections to the new valuations for the Borough of Cambridge, set down for this morning, fizzled out in an extraordinary manner. Some 26 objections had been received, but several of these were met by negotiations between the Government Valuator and the objectors. One of our local firms of solicitors had in hand eight of these objections. All of these were amicably arranged before tho Court session.

When the Court opened, before Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., specially appointed to preside over the sessions, not a single objector appeared, and consequently the Court had no business to transact.

Messrs. Hyde (Government valuator), E. B. Cox and Chas. Potts (assessors) were in attendance.
