Under Whose Jurisdiction?

—♦ — A KABAPIBO MATTER. The supervisor of roads has reported to the Cambridge Hoad Board that Mr Wm. Hickey wanted some alterations made to the road near his place, to prevent it being washed away continually as was now the case whenever the Karapiro creek was flooded. A bridge had been 'erected, but the washout prevented it being used, and the lands of Messrs Morgan and Cannel were continually flooded when there was a fresh in the creek. It was decided to offer Mi’ Hickey £4 and a set of 12 inch pipes if he wauld put the same in to the satisfaction of the board. Re this place Mr Hooker asked how it was that the board did not now receive any rates from the land that they formerly did. He stated he had been told that -one of the Valuation Department officers had put the land into the Matamata County and that that body now received the rates. The chairman said no valuer had the right to alter the boundaries of any country, there being certain statutory methods of doing that. The matter will be enquired into.
