THE RAINFALL
Hr. 11. Douglas, superintendent of the Waikato Hospital, recorded the rainfall for September as 1.25 in on 12 days, the heaviest fall .45in being on the 24th. The average fall for September for the II years 1900l.'i was-1.29in. the heaviest fall being 7.Tin in' 1900 and 1912, ami the linhtest l.XSin in 1901. The monthly fall for the past three ! years lias been as follows: - 19M. 1913. 1912. I January 1.55 3.33 1.86 I February 1.56 1.74 2.25 ; March 4.10 4.25 -1.77 ! April 3.63 1.21 6.0K May 2.76 4.67 1.79 June '1.25 4.76 7.20 July 4.08 5.49 4.65 August 1.71 4.19 3.04 September 1.25 2.35 7.70 Total 23.92 31.99 39.34 The average rainfall for the 14 years mentioned above was 50.98 in, so we require a full of 2Y.o6in in the coming quarter to bring the rainfall up to normal, Last year the fall was over three inches below the average, the last three months, howover, being considerably above the average.
