Morrinsville Town Board.

The ordinary meeting of the Town Board was held in the Council Chambers on Thursday evening. There were present: Messrs S. Allen, chairman, 11. J. Clifford, J. M. Clifford, W. C. Pickett, F. ,1. Marshall, and S. C. Parlour.

A request was received from the licensee of the billiardroom for an extension of time till 11 p.m., and discussed. The local constable reported that the room was well conducted; but he objected to the time neing extended. — Decided that no action be taken, closing time being as fixed in by-laws, viz., 10 p.m. The General Manager, New Zealand Railways wrote declining the request for an entrance to the railway property from MoorhouoC street.

A letter was received from the Department of Roads re grant for drainage; also from the Treasurer, giving authority for expending the £4OO granted.. It was decided that an engineer be employed to draw up a drainage scheme for the department's approval. A committee of the whole board v.a.; appointed to consult with a suitable engineer.

Messrs C. and A. Glimmer wrote requesting the board to effect repairs to the footpath in front of their premises and along the north side of Thames street.—The foreman was instructed to report on the work at next meeting.

The chairman reported receipt of agreement of purchase of pound section. -It was decided that the board's sea! be affixed an the purchase completed. -It was also agreed to have the section fenced at onee.

Owing to an error, it was decided to re-advertise the notice of loan making a halfpenny rate instead of one eighth of a penny, which is insufficient.

The foreman reported on the work done and said that a fence had been erected across Lome street south, without permission.—lt was decided that the occupier be requested to remove the fence within seven days, otherwise the board will do so at his expense, and the foreman was instructed accordingly. It was also decided that the foreman procure material and have pound section fenced at once. It was decided to draw the Bank's attention to the furze growing on its property and request its removal.

It was resolved to draw up a petition, requesting the Government to acquire the native land, portion of the Te Au-o-Waikato Bio.-k A, lying between the river and railway, as a recreation reserve, and water supply site, and that Mr Herries be asked to forward the petition. The District Engineer of Railways is to be written to with reference to the damning of the creek, which is the drainage outlet.—Own Correspondent.
