THE PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
A PROTEST AGAINST THE DATE,
(BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Napier, This Day. At a representative meeting of the Peace Celebration Committee, a resolution was passed protesting against the selection of November 9th, and suggesting that nothing be done until the British Government gives some indication, so that the celebrations may bo held at the same time throughout the Empire. Christchurch, This Day. The Mayor has received a telegram from the Premier stating that in view of the cable received that Lord Roberts intends issuing a proclamation on the subject, the Government are deferring taking action, but the Premier can at all eveuts say peace day will not be proclaimed until some time in November.
