ATTEMPTED TRAIN WRECKING.
ANOTHER ATTEMPT FAILS. (11Y telegraph.—press ASSOCIATION.) Chuistcu'.'p.oh, This Day. An attempt was made last uighc to wreck the 915 p.m. train from Christchurch to Lyttelton. Two short pieces of 40 lb rails had been jammed in between each of the rails, arid the longitudinal sleepers as well as a piece of rail slip- Tho train had forced the piece of rail into the s'eeper, which fortunately was rotten and this had allowed the flange of the wheels to pass between the rail and the obstruction, aud thus a serious accident was averted.
