ANNEXATION OF COOK ISLANDS.
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GoVBKNOK is to leave by H.M.B. Mildura, to annex the Islands. Mr Seddon will follow in the Tutauekai. The following is the text of the Premier's motion, which was carried on Friday night in the House : " That, whereas it is desirable in the best interests of the colony and of the inhabitants of cerrain islands in the Pacific, hereinafter mentioned, that those islands should be annexed to this colony, this House therefore approves of the alteration of the boundaries of this colony, and conseuts to extension of the said boundaries so as to include the following islands: Atiu v Mangaia, Mauke, Mitiaro, Rarotonga, Rarotougahaye, Manahiki, Palmerston, Penrhyn, Pukapuka, Rakahanga and Nieue (or Savage Island). '"■
