DISAPPERANCE OF MR. J. P. McALLISTER.
SUPPOSED TO BE DROWNED. (i'.Y TBIiEGIUPH.— rBKSS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. Mr J. P. MoAIiLiSTEK, solicitor, of the firm of Messrs Tole and McAllister, disappeared from the steamer Waiotahi last night, on the voyage from Auckland to Tanranga. Mr McAllister was seen in the saloon at five this morning, but at (5.30 could not be found. The Waiotahi had a smooth passage. Later. With reference to the disappearance iff Mr J. r. McAllister from the steamer Waiotahi, his reason for going to Tauranga is unexplained, as it was not in connection with office business. lie did not mention i oing away. He was suffering from a growth in the ear, for which lie had undergone an operation eon.e time ago. The growth has recently renewed, and he told a friend he would have to undergo another operation, and by a chance he might be cured, but if it were not successful it meant death or insanity
