WOMEN’S DIVISION.
MEETING OF RANGITUMAU BRANCH.
The monthly meeting of the Rangitumau Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at the residence of Mrs Stuart on Thursday last. Mrs James, president, presided over a good attendance of members. Final arrangements were made for the birthday celebrations to be held on October 17. A letter was received from Otaki Health Camp Committee asking for assistance and it was decided to forward a donation to same. During the afternoon Mrs Tankersley gave an interesting talk on the work done by other branches of the Division with which she had been associated. Competitions were won as follow (the judging being by popular vote): — Best article made from two felt hats: Mesdames Stuart and Chorley, equal, 1; Mrs MacDonald 3. Best three blooms: Miss E. Duckett, 1; Miss Harvey and Mrs Chorley, equal, 2. Best single bloom: Mesdames Duckett and Chorley equal 1; Miss Harvey and Mrs E. T. Wilton, equal, 3. There was a fine collection of goods for sale on the bring and buy table. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Chorley and Stuart. Votes of thanks to Mrs Tankersley for her interesting address, and to Mrs Stuart for the use of her home concluded the meeting.
