BUILDING RECORD.
NEW JAPANESE WHALER LAUNCHED. 156 DAYS AFTER KEEL LAID. (Received Sunday, 6.30 p.m.) TOKIO, Aogust 1. The Nisshin Maru, a whaler of 1700 tons, was launched at Kobe 156 days after the laying of the keel. This is believed to be a world record. The vessel will be ready on September 30. The building of the whaler heralds Japanese plans to go after Antarctic whaling on a big scale.
