WOMEN’S DIVISION.
CARTERTON BRANCH MEETING. There was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division, held on Friday, Mrs J. Standen (president) being in the chair. The main 'business was to consider the remits to go before the annual conference to be held in Wellington this week. Members were reminded of the childi ren’s fancy dress party to be held in the Bandroom on July 18 and the social evening on July 21. Winners of the monthly bloom competition were: Flower section, Mrs L. Maitland, 1; Mrs E. Allen 2. Shrub: Mrs E. Allen 1 and 2. Cooking: Best plate pikelets, Mrs Allen, 1; Mrs K. Reid, 2. A vote of condolence with Mrs Cross, who recently lost her husband, was passed. A very interesting demonstration on leather work was given by Mrs Smith, of Dalefield. This was much appreciated. She was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames W. Hall, G. Rabbits, Walshe and A. Robinson.
