MINIATURE RIFLES.
MASTERTON CLUB MID-WINTER MEETING. H. McCUSKEB WINS AGGREGATE. Forty-one members of the Masterton Miniature Rifle Club competed at the mid-winter handicap meeting on the club range on Saturday afternoon and evening. The scoring, with the exception of Mr. R. Wellington’s possible in the first match, was not of a high standard but as the shoot comprised all handicap events the handicap men featured well in the prize lists. The conditions were three shoots of 7 shots on the metric target while the ten highest scorers had to fire an additional seven shots (handicap added) to decide the winner of the aggregate. The following are the detailed results of each match:—.
Match No. 1: R. Wellington, 70, 10s, 1; H. King and F. Gray, equal, 6s 6d, 2; Miss X dray, 4s, 4; Miss E. Johnson, 3s, 5; Miss E. Olli ver, 2s 6d; d. Pickering, 2s 6d; M. O’Sullivan, 2s. Match No. 2: C. Pickering, 10s, 1; J. Whiteman, R. Wellington, equal, 6s 6d, 2; Miss M. Brader, 4s, 4; Miss E. Johnson, 3s; T. Haeata, 2s 6d; J. Duckett, 2s 6d; V. McKeague, 2s. Match No. 3: H. K. Smith, 10s, 1; H. McCusker, 7s, 2; R. Ferris, 6s, 3; H. Donald, 4s 4; R. V. Mason, 3s; M. O’Sullivan, Miss J. Gray, Miss E. Olliver, E. M. Wrigley, all Is 6d. The following is the result of the aggregate:—President’s trophy, H. McCusker, 1; Mr. Bouzaid’s trophy, Miss J. Gpay, 2; Club trophies, R. Wellington, 3; Miss E. Johnson, 4; H. K. Smith, 5; R. V. Mason, 6. The handsome silver cup donated by Mr. J. Whiteman for the ladies’ aggregate was won by Miss J. Gray. The special trophy donated by Mr. L. Renal! for first year shooters was won by Mrs. Henderson. At the conclusion of the shooting the president, Mr. H. K. Smith, presented the prizes won and congratulated the various winners on their fine performances. He said he was very pleased to see so many young and new shooters featuring in the prize lists and hoped that their good fortune would continue in the club championships which would be held shortly. After supper a happy time was spent in the distributation of "mystery” prizes, carried out by the lady members when "metric-itious” and oversize testers were much in evidence.
