SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. PIRINOA. ("The Age” Special.) Mr. and Mrs. J. Phillips have been on- a sKort visit to Wellington. The annual football and basketball matches- between the Kahutara and Pirinoa schaoß were played on Wednesday. The football match was won by the visitors by a substantial margin whiie the local girls triumphed in the basketbail match by seven goals. It is understood that representations will be made to the postal authorities for a daily mail service between Feathferston and Lake Ferry in lieu of the present triweekly service. The monthly meeting of the Women ’s Institute was held in the Memorial Hall on Thursday, the President, Miss HkniOir; presiding over a good attendance of members. Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins, who have been visiting Wellington, have returned home. The Kumenga bridge which has been in the course of construction for the past three months is now completed. The bridge marks the first step in the proposed river deviation. Mr. and' Mrs. Bell, Wellington, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. Bell, for the week-end. Mt. and' Mrs. Roger Pearse, Wairoa, are visiting relatives in this district.
